The Gandhinagar District Co-operative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. was registered on February 06, 1971 under the Gujarat State Co-operative Act, 1961 by few prominent co-operators of Gandhinagar district with limited members and limited societies. This Union has a daily procurement of around 3,000 LPD. In 1992-93, the Union first began a movement of arranging village level meeting to convince primary milk producer at their door step and it was a great moment. In 1996 existing plant was expanded capacity of 60000 LPD. The capacity was further expanded up to 2 lacs LPD in 2002-03.
During the year 2015-16, the Union has collected a total of 626 lac liters of milk from 42635 members of 116 village Co-operative milk producing societies. Daily average of milk collection is 1.71 lac kg and average daily collection per society is 1,479 kg. This includes 52 percentage of buffalo’s milk and 43 percentage of cow’s milk and mix milk is 5 percentage.
Chairman of Milk Societies, Members of Managing Committees, Dear Milk Producing Members & Our Customers,
As hard work and co-operation are two sides of a coin so your great hard work of collection more and more milk and your “full co-operation” for supply of your milk to the union by your milk society of village, You only are two sides of coin of the union. If I say this, it would not be out of place. I specially emphasis that our union of Madhur Dairy is famous as “ The taste of Capital” and the name of Madhur Dairy is remembered at National level proudly and very important person of foreign countries when visit Gujarat, they make a point to visit Madhur Dairy and express their satisfaction for its transparent, democratic and economical management or when more than 90 per cent of consumers of milk of Gandhinagar are served by it or when it is on roll of more than 15 national level awards/ Certificates, the full credit for this gigantic task goes not to me and my colleagues of board of Directors but only and only to you in sincere earnestness. This is like cent per cent gold and truth like rays of sun is always shining.
For these very reasons, I and my colleagues of board of Directors have great pleasure in presenting this 46th Annual Report of the institution.
When can one achieve success? You all are well aware that no one can ever succeed without your whole hearted support and cooperation. When you have always extended your co-operation and assistance then only we have been able to take madhur dairy on path of progress and glory. Yes, we have definitely provided the madhur dairy and you with a transparent, democratic and economical management and the members of milk producing fraternity paid a study-tour of madhur dairy and noticed this very fact. Particularly all statically data of union maintained properly and can be provided when demanded. It is intended to introduce SAP and ERP computerized system in management of the union very soon, so that all the information as required can be made available immediately.
Secondly you are very well aware that taking care of animals or producing of milk both these are one thing and for this, women rather than men are more engaged in it and they spend more time and labor for it. I can mention it with special accent on it. See, when grass and cattle feed are to be brought from fields and the milking operation is to be carried out in morning and evening, they are there to work. The women give grass to the cattle; they give water to the cattle on time. They clean the stable and byre and collect dung and keep clean the shed. They carry the milk to the society in morning and evening on time. They keep account for the transaction for supply of milk in a proper way, when this matter is carried further; I can say certainly that when the animal is sick or unwell, most of the phone calls are administered by women for visit of vet. Not only is this, the medicines prescribed by doctors administered by women themselves on time. This led me that more and more posts should be created for in management and union of milk societies and with purpose. I along with my colleagues of Board of Directors got changed by laws of milk societies and by laws of union and reserved 33 percent posts for women. Not only this but also a, trend of setting up of more and more women’s milk societies adopted in Madhur Dairy. So that members can be only women in women’s milk societies. Not only this but also the entire management of women’s milk societies is being handled by women members only. This is a laudable step in direction of women empowerment. For this approach making step of women empowerment, I have received your whole hearted collaboration for which. I am highly obliged to you.
Now I am narrating further programs of the Union. An advertisement has been published in news papers for purchase of a plant to be set up for producing on large scale to make available cattle feed to our producing persons at no loss basis and our cattle feed, Madhur skimmed milk powder. Madhur Cheese, Madhur Curd, Madhur buttermilk etc. and tenders for it have been invited and its work is nearing completion. The economic profit after meeting the cost of sale of the new produces will be distributed among the members. By this, the economic condition of the members will be better.
This is a small glimpse of our future programs to be undertaken. Now I should enlighten about the activities carried out in the field of milk procurement, technical input services, production (dairy plant) and sale section, marketing and it is my bounden moral duty to provide this information.
One poet has rightly said that, “Life is a struggle, disciple, life a struggle, work with patient and work with patient”.
If any person or institution wants to march forward unhindered, he has be bold enough to face difficulties and overcome hindrances ever, and then only he can maintain his onward march to success but along with it, if is coupled with co-operation and support of people, it is all clear and it is smooth selling and work is crowned with great success. In this way if we want to move forward there will be bottlenecks ahead and we the board of Directors are hopeful that the difficulties will be overcome and if your cooperation is forthcoming they will not be obstacles but a way of roses on the way and way to process and prosperity. However you are kind enough to extend your willing cooperation, warmth and recognition for which the words are unable to express my gratitude to you. I earnestly pray to the almighty God that all the members of milk producing society under auspice of this union may ever progress all around.
My Special thanks are due to Hon’ble Minister of Co-operation-Shri Iswarbhai Patel for the progress of the institution. I am grateful to NDDB and GCMMFC for their constant guidance and direction.
